after leaving the interstate
and taking highway 212
across south eastern montana
i saw many cattle and horses
but here i saw real cowboys
rounding up cattle
i just sat on the shoulder
and watched for a while
the cowboys waved goodbye
when i got back on my horse
to head on down the trail
