today was the first time
for many of these youngsters
to put on boots with blades
and stay vertical on ice
and it is not easy at first
perhaps in a few years
i'll take them skating again
and they'll be really good
but for now
good to have an adult
as a skate helper
or one of those plastic walkers
that are actually called
skate helpers
