today i crossed a bridge
between the past and present
over what was left of
the molotschna river
(just a dribbling creek now)
that separated the lutherans
from the mennonites
almost a century ago
my father was born in 1923
in the village of lindenau
molotschna colony
i went there today
with my brother john
and our guide victor penner
and it was extraordinary
