an odd duck sort of day
no school here on salt spring
but it's not a holiday either
not here in canada anyway
so along with herb and john
my two american brothers
i respectfully celebrated
martin luther king day
but it is my canadian sister
(not the adopted one)
who gets the swan song today
i see that the juvenile swan
is almost adult sized now
and will soon be white
like its elders
